Office Renovation

San Francisco, California

BRIDGE Housing is a nonprofit organization committed to building communities and providing high-quality affordable homes for working families and seniors. Upon entering the new Financial District headquarters, visitors are greeted by a portrait of founders Don Terner and Alan L. Stein. Natural sunlight produces an ethereal glow behind the image, which covers a window facing the wall to the adjacent building.

With a strict budget and fast-paced construction schedule, it was important to retain and reuse elements of the prior tenant’s build out. The existing perimeter private offices and meeting rooms were salvaged, as well as the acoustic ceiling throughout the space. New elements included a reception area, large multi-purpose conference room and training room, and communal kitchen overlooking Chinatown. New workstations were also provided with colorful privacy screens scattered randomly across the floor, and a sound masking system was installed in the open office areas to mitigate sound and create a more comfortable work environment.
