CSU Monterey Bay Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library

Monterey Bay, California

The new campus library serves as the centerpiece for the University’s emerging campus. An attractive circular plaza defines the building’s entry, and a sweeping three-story atrium running the length of the building brings daylight into the Library’s interior. Reading spaces are located along the atrium and in the daylit zones along the window walls, while the library stacks are located on the interior. To serve as the social and intellectual hub of California State University, Monterey Bay, the library includes fully wired classrooms, a 24-hour computer facility and café, auditoriums, and a state-of-the-art distance learning facility. The Library is certified LEED Silver and features a range of sustainable design strategies from daylighting and low-energy use to healthy carpets, water conservation, and high-recycled content materials.
