John Christiansen has more than 30 years of aquarium systems design and construction management experience. As EHDD’s Director of Quality Control and Construction Administration, John conducts design and technical reviews of all firm projects and oversees all projects under construction. He also acts as a technical advisor for EHDD’s marine research facilities, aquariums, and zoo projects.
Before joining EHDD in 1999, John worked for Rhodes/Dahl, Inc. managing the renovation and expansion of the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration in Mystic, Connecticut and the Monterey Bay Aquarium New Exhibits Wing and the Tuna Research and Conservation Center in Pacific Grove, both in California. Additionally, he designed marine exhibits and reviewed aquarium seawater mechanical and control systems, materials selection, and methods for corrosion control. Prior to Rhodes/Dahl, Inc., John was the aquarium systems designer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and has served as an independent marine life support and seawater systems consultant for the South Carolina Aquarium, Monterey Bay Aquarium, New England Aquarium, Denver Zoo, Elkhorn Slough Nature Center, and Chula Vista Nature Interpretive Center.
